Organic Farming

Touching ground, the Phulbari farm lies on 10 acres of organically-prepared land in different stages of cultivation and abundance of nature’s growth. In and around the hill are five ponds, fruit trees, nut trees and plots that yield a mixed variety of vegetables, herbs and ornamental shrubs. All for our picking and preparing by our trained Nepali cook into the most simple and satisfying meals.

We have also gone into production of natural herbal teas (lemon grass, stinging nettle and mint); jams from our farm harvests (peach, plum, passion fruit, ginger, rhododendron, etc.) and pickles (tomato, brinjal or eggplant, lapsi or plum, chili, to name some) that are sold on the farm, the city and in Singapore under Organic Himalaya brand name.

A bare hilltop at the time of our purchase in 1993, the land has turned into an oasis of outstanding masonry on the foot paths; deliberate planting of bamboo, cyprus and olive; and water channels to contribute to a sense of aesthetic significance in a farm.
